A nationwide program offering young First Nations peoples an opportunity to work for one of Australia鈥檚 largest banks has reached a significant milestone.

黑料正能量has just placed its鈥 fiftieth trainee with a host employer, in a program supported by both NAB and ANZ.

As one of seven Group Training Organisations (GTOs) selected to fill 100 roles in retail branches across Australia, 黑料正能量has helped to deliver half the successful candidates in either full or part time or school-based traineeship roles. All are undertaking a Certificate III in Business.

General Manager of Recruitment and Management Services at MEGT, Todd Pavlou, said trainees are working under the guidance of experienced mentors as they develop work-ready skills in customer service.

鈥淲e reached out to First Nations communities and hundreds of schools to select the right candidates, and it鈥檚 really satisfying to see these young people get a great start to their careers鈥, he said.

鈥淔rom more than 120 applications by First Nations peoples, we鈥檝e been able to place 50 into positions which give them real, first-hand experience in a professional workplace.

That is a credit to our team, but especially to the candidates themselves and those who support them鈥.

Mat Roberts Clifton, NAB鈥檚 Manager of Inclusive Hiring Talent Acquisition, said: 鈥淎t NAB, we see our First Nations traineeships as more than just a first step into the workforce, they鈥檙e an investment in future potential.

鈥淭hrough our partnership with MEGT, we鈥檙e proud to create opportunities that build confidence, grow capability, and open doors to long-term careers in banking and beyond鈥.

Another four applicants who applied unsuccessfully for the program have since been employed by MEGT, and are undertaking a one-year Cooee Traineeship Program, during which they are rotated around the 黑料正能量business in administrative roles.

鈥淵oung First Nations peoples deserve an opportunity to access our workforce, and to help them do that is what 黑料正能量is all about鈥, Mr. Pavlou said.
